Posts from the Blog Category

I recently wrote a guest blog post for my good friend and fellow Black Weblog Award winner, Sanura Weathers. She hosts an annual food blog called Kwanzaa Culinarians, which is definitely worth checking out if you like tasty food.

And speaking of tasty food, Sanura also has her own regularly updated food blog that is full of delicious recipes. You should check that out, too (and follow her on Twitter while you’re at it).

I hope you enjoy my recipe, and most of all I hope you have a safe and happy holiday season. I’ll see you in 2013!

I have been an “absentee blogger,” so I figured it was long overdue to give a little update on what’s been going down over the past few months.

I’ve been recharging and rethinking the path forward for 2012. I don’t want to reveal too much before the time is right, but I promise it’ll all be revealed in due time.

In the meantime, let me show you a lil’ something I’ve been working on. Since we’re closer to a release date, I think it’s okay to reveal this now.

My good friend, Artemis…er…Ardamus (gotta get the MC name right) asked me to work on the album art for his upcoming release, The Glass is Half Full of…

Ardamus wanted a style reminiscent of old Blue Note albums—a sort of wink and nod—without being a carbon copy. He had 3 singles to release prior to the album dropping, but wanted them in the same vein without being identical to the album art.

Additionally, we did a variation on these for the instrumental versions of the singles.

If you dig “the hip-hop music” the kids these days are into, you should check it out. Glad to say that even if he wasn’t one of my best friends, I’d listen to his music. If you want to support the DMV and indie hip-hop, pick it up.

I’m Not the One and Wishin’ That Was Me are out now, while Quite Fresh drops on Valentine’s Day.

The full length The Glass is Half Full of… album drops on February 28. I’ll show some interior album art after the album drops.

This was a fun project to work on, I wish my friend Ardamus much success with this release. I think it’s one of his best. I also appreciate him being an awesome client.

If only it was always this easy…

Greetings everyone! It’s been a long time. Too long. I’ve missed you. So, what, “oh what” have you been up to T. Biddy? Glad you asked!

Over the course of the past few months I’ve been fine tuning the comic that many of you read on a semi-regular basis. There were some pages and story flow I was less than thrilled with, so I went back and took a look at it with fresh eyes and got some second opinions. My wife, Stacey and my friend Roy Maurer were very helpful in getting this project where I wanted it to be.

First, I want to thank everyone who was so encouraging with this project. It means a lot to me that people were reading it and enjoying it. So, what I offer to you is a little treat…

What you are about to read is the first chapter of The Mighty Monkey-Men, in it’s entirety. If you’ve read it before, I encourage you to take a look at it again. It has been rewritten, revised (with my actual custom created font) and in many places redrawn. I think this reading of it is truest to my initial vision of the project. I promise it will be a new experience.

What’s next?

For a limited time I am leaving this up on my blog. My next step is to seek print publication. So, in the event this comic is published in the future, this will be the last time you will read it online. That bears repeating. This could be the last time you read this comic online.

If you enjoy it and know someone else who might, I encourage you to tell them. Tell everyone. Even grandma. Be the person who knew about it before anyone else. Make them all envy you.

Thanks everyone! Enjoy The Director’s Cut!

Update

Much like Blade Runner (minus the quality), the Director’s Cut of The Mighty Monkey-Men is NOW the only version available! To view the full series—start here.

Sincerely,
Management
